DOSING PHILOSOPHY
Common dosing philosophies Aquanet encounters are manual dosing and dosing by flow.
Manual Dosing
In this situation a chemical test is done on the boiler water every shift, or
every other shift (or even once a week), the
operator then makes manual upward or downward turns to the dosing pumps to
adjust the amount of chemical being
dosed to try and maintain reserves at the correct level.
Dose By Flow
In this situation a flow meter is connected to a dosing pump and the dosing
pump's rate is adjusted by the flow rate.
Dose On Demand
Aquanet's philosophy is to automate the dosing system by sampling the feed, and
boiler water, analysing the conditions
and other boiler parameters and dosing the chemical according to demand to give
better water chemistry, avoid excessive
blowdown and increase the efficiency of the plant.
The model will simulate the various dosing philosophies.
MANUAL DOSING SIMULATION
If a simulation of Manual dosing is chosen then
the program's user must adjust the stroke length and stroke rate of the
pump and run a simulation. The pumps display will show the amount of chemical
dosed and show the shortfall or
overdose compared with the actual demand.
Red indicates a shortfall whereas black indicates an overdose. Overdosing
wastes water, fuel and chemicals due
to excessive blowdown.
